Description
This year long course is designed to expose homeschooling students to secondary level Science. It focuses on preparing students for the GCSE Science curriculum content: Biology, Chemistry and Physics. The course is intended for children aged 11-14 preparing to build the foundations for GCSE biology, chemistry and physics.
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Introduce fundamental scientific concepts: Ensure students grasp foundational principles in physics, chemistry, and biology, forming a solid base for GCSE studies.
- Foster scientific inquiry: Promote curiosity by guiding students in conducting independent research, forming hypotheses, and designing experiments, preparing them for more advanced investigations.
- Build practical skills (where possible): Equip students with essential laboratory techniques and experimental procedures, enhancing their ability to conduct experiments and analyse results effectively.
- Strengthen scientific communication: Develop students’ ability to articulate ideas clearly, write concise scientific reports, and engage in discussions, laying the groundwork for effective communication in GCSE-level studies.
- Cover key KS3 curriculum topics: Ensure comprehensive coverage of KS3 science curriculum, bridging the gap between foundational concepts and more advanced GCSE content.
- Encourage collaborative learning: Foster teamwork and communication skills through group activities, discussions, and projects, preparing students for collaborative work in higher-level science courses.
- Emphasise real-world applications: Connect scientific theories to practical applications, helping students understand the relevance of science in their daily lives and future studies.
- Cultivate a passion for science: Inspire a love for learning by incorporating engaging and exciting elements into the curriculum, motivating students to pursue further studies in science.
