This course prepares students for grades 4–9 and builds strong skills in algebra, number, ratio, geometry, and statistics. Students develop fluency, problem-solving ability, and mathematical reasoning through a wide range of topics—from equations and trigonometry to vectors and data analysis. The course is assessed by three exams (one non-calculator and two calculator papers) and provides a solid foundation for A-level maths or related subjects.
Course Content:
This course is designed for students aiming for grades 4–9 and provides a rigorous foundation in higher-level mathematics. It develops strong analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills across five core areas:
- Number: Calculations with integers, fractions, decimals, percentages, indices, and standard form.
- Algebra: Expressions, equations, inequalities, sequences, and graphs including quadratics and non-linear functions.
- Ratio, Proportion & Rates of Change: Direct and inverse proportion, scaling, compound units, and percentage change.
- Geometry & Measures: Properties of shapes, constructions, trigonometry, vectors, and calculation of area, volume, and angles.
- Statistics & Probability: Data interpretation, averages, charts, probability rules, and statistical diagrams.
Students are assessed through three exam papers (one non-calculator and two calculator papers), with equal weighting.
Cost: £1350 per year, payable in 10 monthly instalments of £135.00.
