    Theme: Maghreb and Andalusia

Calligraphy – This year will be continuing with Riqa’a script. As an Ottoman script, the students develop attention to details and still look at the overall picture of their compositions. This is a script that can lead to an Ijaza (certification).

Geometry – We will be focusing on the geometric pattern, rosettes and materials to bring them out. We will be using pigments and mordants, gilding with gold or silver, and making 3-dimensional forms and wood parquetry.

Biomorphic Forms – We will be exploring different biomorphic forms, focusing on freehand drawings and biomorphs with geometry. Here the students will learn about stylised expressions of biomorphic patterns in Islamic Art. We will also be exploring drawing, painting and gilding techniques and making woodblock prints on natural dyed fabrics.

Cost: £600 per year, payable in 10 monthly instalments of £60.00.
