We know the realities of online education: multiple tabs, tempting apps, and a constant tug-of-war over attention. Many parents are doing their best to keep screen time purposeful while balancing work, family, and everything in between. As a responsible education provider, we’re partnering with you. Device Monitoring is a gentle, school-led service that helps students stay present in class, protects learning time, and offers calm, constructive support when attention drifts.

What is Device Monitoring?

A subscription service available only to families enrolled in Stewards.ONE Online School, designed to help keep students on task during scheduled lesson times. With your consent, our teachers can see if a student is using unrelated apps (e.g., games, social media) and offer timely redirection—privately, respectfully, and with care.

• Improves focus: Subtle prompts and quick check-ins reduce off-task time.
• Supports self-management: Students learn simple habits to manage distractions.
• Keeps you informed: Parents receive brief, need-to-know updates plus recommendations, not surveillance reports.
• Strengthens partnership: We work with families to build a consistent home-school approach.

What’s included

• Live class-time monitoring (only during your child’s timetabled lessons).
• Teacher intervention when a student appears distracted or is using unrelated applications.
• Parent briefings with practical, constructive suggestions where helpful.
• Safeguarding-aware practice aligned with Stewards.ONE values of stewardship, integrity, and care.

How it works

1. Subscribe to Device Monitoring (Stewards.ONE families only).
2. Setup call (15–20 minutes via Zoom): We’ll help you install a small, secure monitoring app on the student’s device.
3. Class-time only: During lessons, teachers can see indicators of off-task activity and may discreetly intervene.
4. Follow-up: We’ll share short, relevant notes with parents when an intervention or recommendation would be helpful.

Safeguards & privacy

• Scope-limited: Monitoring is strictly limited to scheduled lesson times.
• Purpose-limited: Used only to support learning and safeguarding—not to judge home life.
• Minimum visibility: Teachers see activity signals relevant to class focus; we do not record keystrokes or private passwords.
• No always-on recording: We do not record your child’s screen or camera by default. If a specific safeguarding concern ever required escalation, we would follow our published safeguarding procedures and inform parents as appropriate.
• Data handling: We retain only what’s needed to provide the service and to meet safeguarding obligations, in line with our policies.

• Important: Please ensure the monitored device isn’t used by other adults for personal use, as class-time monitoring could make their activity visible to teachers.

Requirements

• Student is enrolled at Stewards.ONE Online School.
• A compatible device (Windows/Mac/Chromebook; ask us if unsure).
• Internet connection and permission to install the monitoring app.
• A 15–20 minute Zoom slot for setup with a parent/guardian present.
