    Description

    GCSE Arabic Year 2 (Higher Tier) builds upon the foundational skills acquired in Year 1, preparing students for the Pearson Edexcel GCSE Arabic exams. The course focuses on advanced grammar, vocabulary expansion, and linguistic accuracy, ensuring students can communicate fluently and confidently in Arabic.

    Through structured lessons, interactive activities, and real-world texts, students will refine their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. The curriculum is aligned with Pearson Edexcel assessment formats, providing targeted exam preparation, including mock assessments, structured speaking practice, and timed writing tasks. By the end of the course, students will have the skills necessary to succeed in the formal GCSE exams and continue their Arabic studies at a higher level.

    The two-year GCSE course is divided into 12 lessons, each lasting approximately 3 weeks. Topics covered include:

    • Arabic letters and pronunciation, short vowels, and the alphabet.
    • Articles, gender, personal and demonstrative pronouns, nominal sentences, and gender agreement.
    • Roots and patterns, numbers, adjectives, and the Nisba ending.
    • Declension, tanwīn, relative pronouns, prepositions, adverbs, and stress.
    • Verbs, verbal sentences, object sentences, and reception at the airport.
    • Imperfect verbs, future tense, genitive construction, pronominal suffixes, and cardinal numbers.
    • Subjunctive and jussive moods, imperative, negation, and prohibition.
    • Cardinal numbers from 11 to 20, reflexive pronouns, and names of the months.
    • Past tense of weak verbs, cardinal numbers after 20, and Islamic history.
    • Imperfect tense of weak verbs, ordinal numbers, and telling the time.
    • Derived forms of verbs, use of كَانَ and its sisters, and environmental topics.
    • Infinitives, plurals of infinitives, and Arab and Muslim history of medicine.

    This course follows a structured yet interactive format that integrates multiple teaching methodologies, including:

    • Interactive Lessons: Engaging classroom activities that incorporate listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.
    • Grammar and Vocabulary Workshops: Deep dives into complex grammatical structures and advanced vocabulary acquisition.
    • Speaking and Listening Exercises: Role-plays, debates, and listening comprehension exercises to enhance fluency.
    • Text Analysis and Writing Practice: Critical reading of Arabic texts and structured writing assignments.
    • Dialectal Exposure: Familiarisation with regional dialects to improve listening comprehension and real-world application.
    • Exam Preparation and Mock Assessments: Timed practice tests and review sessions to ensure readiness for the final GCSE exams.

    Cost: £1100 per year, payable in 10 monthly instalments of £110.00.
