What this course develops

This course develops handwriting control, neatness, spacing, rhythm, presentation and writing stamina. Students are guided through repeated, manageable practice so that handwriting becomes less frustrating and more useful for schoolwork, note-taking, assignments and exams.

Learning focus
Targeted practice in letter formation, spacing, alignment, grip, writing rhythm, layout, copying accuracy, neatness and presentation.
How students grow
Students become more aware of how their writing looks and feels. They learn to slow down, form letters more carefully, space words properly and present written work with greater pride.
Parent outcome
Parents should expect a practical improvement course that supports clearer written work, better presentation, stronger confidence and more independent completion of written tasks.

Why Handwriting matters

Good handwriting is not only about appearance. It affects how easily students can express their ideas, organise their work and complete written tasks with confidence. When handwriting is messy, rushed or tiring, students may lose marks, avoid writing or feel frustrated before they have even begun.

Improve clarity
Students practise making their writing easier to read through better letter formation, word spacing, line control and page layout.
Build fluency
Students work on smoother, steadier writing so that written tasks feel less slow, tiring or uncomfortable.
Strengthen presentation habits
Students learn that careful presentation is part of taking responsibility for their work and communicating clearly with others.

Handwriting runs from 3 August 2026 to 21 August 2026 during the Stewards.ONE Summer School programme. There will be no Handwriting classes during the first week of Summer School, from 25 July to 3 August 2026.
